Meet the team… Aneesa
Aneesa is the Live-in Manager at our Beaconsfield branch. Here she tells us a little bit more about her job and why she loves it.
When I was still at school, I wanted to be a nurse because I liked the idea of looking after people, but instead I became a dental nurse, and then a nanny.
When I had my children, I worked as a childminder because it allowed me to be at home with them, and was also a job I’d always been interested in. And then when they began school five years ago, I decided to look at a career in care.
At that time, I was out in the field and looking after a lady with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease…I was almost live-in. She passed away last January, so then I was asked to come into the Beaconsfield office and work from here.
When I originally started working in care I did induction training and then the mandatory training that you need to work as a carer and now I’ve begun working towards a Level 3 qualification in adult care. That will open doors in what I do and help me to take my career further.
Today I manage the live-in carers, and everything involved, from scheduling to temporary care placements for clients who might have just come out of hospital, or whose relatives are going on holiday, to organising the time for carers looking after clients long-term. One of the major responsibilities is ensuring the clients and carers are well-matched: Compatibility is so important.
I’d definitely recommend a career in care to other people; the positive impact you can have on peoples’ lives is so rewarding, and it’s a job that makes me happy. I particularly like to work with more challenging clients, such as those with dementia, because it’s a totally different experience.
