Meet the team… Nadine
Nadine is another one of Nobilis’ newest recruits. She joined the business just a few weeks ago as an apprentice, but is already proving a huge asset to the team at our Southampton HQ.
I started my career with Nobilis in February, working as a business administrator apprentice. I’ve been warmly welcomed into a friendly environment and am working alongside lovely people.
Before this role I previously worked in hospitality and retail, but my contract was cut short at my last job due to the lockdown in December, which left me unemployed. I had been considering what career path to take and was unsure for a long time. I knew I wanted an office-based job as I believe there are so many opportunities for progression and career advancement.
I was always attracted to apprenticeships because I love the idea of being in full-time, paid employment, while also being able to gain a qualification to help me in the future. I am currently working towards my Level 3 Business Administration, which is being provided by Paragon Skills. All my work is set online, which means I am able to complete it in the office with the help of my manager. Alongside this, I am also studying a part-time, online distance learning Level 2 Administration course with City College Southampton, which I started myself in January.
I have several relatives that also work in care, so I have always been aware, and had some general knowledge, of the industry. My nan used to work in a care home for adults with special needs who couldn’t live alone. My brother works for another domiciliary care company and my sister-in-law works for a local care home. I have seen how dedicated they are to their jobs and how hard they work, and I really admire that.
My day-to-day role varies but can include sending emails, organising paperwork, printing, and doing a bit of everything! In the short space of time that I have been here, I’ve been lucky enough to already be involved in a variety of projects, including helping to manage our recently launched Carefriends app that our carers can use to refer someone who they think would be a great addition to our team. I will also be assisting our HR Director in trialling a new social media platform to communicate with our carers and other colleagues across our different branches.
I am looking forward to working with other departments to gain more skills and knowledge, which can allow me to decide which path I take to progress in my career after my apprenticeship. Nobilis is going to be expanding rapidly over the next couple of months and I’m excited to see the company grow and be a part of this journey.
