Meet the team… Ben

Ben is one of our new starters. He joined the Nobilis family just a few weeks ago and is now trying his hand at a range of different tasks in departments throughout our Southampton HQ as part of his business admin apprenticeship.

Before joining Nobilis, I was working at McDonalds. Previous to that, while studying Level 3 Sport at college, I also did some work experience as a PE Teacher. However, I’ve always been divided about whether to go into a sports or business career.

When Paragon Skills called me to ask if I was interested in joining Nobilis as an apprentice studying Level 3 Business Administration, I said yes, because I was already looking to move from my job, and I knew that business admin would suit me.

I’m now in my fourth week here and it’s gone really quickly. Day-to-day what I’m working on varies quite a lot; I shadow other members of the team – such as those working on recruitment admin, to see how they do things. It’s a really good opportunity for me to try a little bit of everything, because so many jobs are sent my way and I get to see lots of different parts of the business.

I really enjoy learning new things and I feel like I’ve already learned a lot. Before joining Nobilis I didn’t really understand what caring is about or what it involves. Since starting here, I now see just how much organisation, time and effort goes into caring for people at home and it has given me a totally different perspective on the industry.

Once I’ve finished my apprenticeship I think I’d like to move onto Level 4, so I can continue to learn and to work hard at building my career. But for now, I’m taking each day as it comes.
