David and Nicky Watt set up Nobilis in 2008. Our idea was simple - to provide the best care and support to those who need it most. To look after others as we would want our loved ones looked after.

Having gone through the ‘process’ ourselves, we believed we could do it better than many of the companies we contacted. Not because their staff did not care, but because the professionalism we have come to expect in many aspects of our life, such as customer support and communication, just wasn’t there. The result was a frustrating and unsatisfactory service.

Our experience….

We didn’t want ‘Grandpa’ to go into a residential home. We wanted him looked after in the home he had lived in for 50 years and be supported by great people who cared and would go the extra mile to ensure he remained as independent as possible, to ensure he remained safe and secure and despite his deteriorating health his last years would be comfortable and happy.

The added factor is that we lived miles away so needed the piece of mind that we could rely on whoever was going in.

We arranged the care mostly through conversations with company based near him and meeting up with them when we were visiting to do the initial meeting and subsequent reviews. For the most part they supported him well, the support workers going in were great although not always consistent but it was the lack of communication and feedback from the office staff which was frustrating.

He died at the age of 88 in the comfort of his own home.

The seed was set – we knew we could apply our business skills and experience to an industry that is notoriously under appreciated and do it better.
